Ravencoin (RVN) is an open-source, peer-to-peer blockchain purpose-built for issuing and transferring real-world and digital assets. It's a fork of Bitcoin's UTXO model with a native asset layer — meaning tokens and NFTs live at the protocol level, not in a smart contract.
Ravencoin is announced in a whitepaper by Bruce Fenton, Tron Black, and Joel Weight. The name references the ravens in Game of Thrones — messengers that carry statements of truth.
Mainnet launches on the 9th anniversary of the Bitcoin genesis block. No ICO, no premine, no dev tax — every RVN in circulation was mined.
The asset layer activates. Anyone can create a uniquely-named token directly on Ravencoin by burning 500 RVN, no smart contract required.
Sub-assets, unique assets (NFTs), and messaging channels are added. An asset like RAVEN_FRIENDS/OTTERS#3 is a first-class chain object, not an ERC-721.
The chain forks from X16R to KAWPOW to keep mining GPU-friendly and ASIC-resistant.
Restricted assets, tags, and on-chain voting via qualifier assets ship — enabling compliant tokenization use cases without leaving the base layer.
No Solidity, no gas wars, no ERC standards to argue about. Issue a token or a unique NFT by broadcasting one transaction. Every full node validates it.
Ravencoin inherits Bitcoin's battle-tested UTXO design. Assets ride the same transaction structure, so they're as safe as an RVN transfer.
A memory-hard PoW algorithm that keeps mining accessible to hobbyists with consumer GPUs, resisting ASIC centralization.
No premine, no ICO, no foundation cut. Development is driven by an open community and funded by contributors.
You need a wallet that supports Ravencoin's asset layer — a Bitcoin wallet won't display your NFTs even if it can hold RVN.
The reference wallet from the core developers. Windows, macOS, Linux. Best for full control and asset issuance.
Both Trezor and Ledger support RVN. Great for long-term storage of coins; asset display varies by wallet UI.
Non-custodial mobile wallet with Ravencoin support and asset visibility.
Community-maintained Sparrow build for advanced UTXO management on Ravencoin.
Lightweight Ravencoin wallet focused on assets and NFTs.
Do not send NFTs or assets to an exchange address — they'll be lost. Only use your own wallet.
We recommend Ravencoin Core for desktop or Cake Wallet on mobile. Only download from official sources linked from ravencoin.org.
Write your 12- or 24-word recovery phrase on paper and store it offline. Anyone with the seed controls your coins and NFTs. Never screenshot it, never paste it into a website.
Open the Receive tab and copy the address. Ravencoin mainnet addresses start with an uppercase R and are 34 characters long — never send RVN or assets to a BTC or ETH address.
If you're funding the wallet yourself, always send a small test transfer first. Wait for at least one confirmation before sending the rest.
On Raven Coin Mart, paste that same R… address at checkout. Our fulfillment worker delivers the NFT directly to it on mainnet — usually under 5 minutes after payment clears.
Raven Coin Mart will never ask for your seed phrase, private key, or wallet password. We only need your public receive address to deliver assets.
Browse the catalog and pay with a card — we handle the on-chain delivery.
